malnpudl at 05:52pm on 07/01/2015A RL friend of mine has fallen hard for Outlander -- over the last few months she watched the TV series, read all of the books, and has now started on a reread. Like that. Ass over teacup. As one does.
Though she's never so much as poked her nose into fandom before, aside from reading this year's tiny handful of Outlander Yuletide fics I sent her links for, she has just written her first ever fanfic, a sort of speculative missing scene for the main canon het pairing, and she wants to post it. I'm getting her an AO3 invite, but I'm a bit concerned about her becoming discouraged about lack of response since this is still a Yuletide-size microfandom -- and also she's writing het, not slash, and it's not porny.
I read the first book donkey's years ago, but other than that I'm entirely ignorant. Does Outlander have a fannish presence anywhere else? DW/LJ/whatever? Someplace where posting a new-fic notice would be appropriate? Should I send her to FFN, or would that be too dire a fate to wish on her?
