So the whole posting every day thing sort of fell off, didn't it? But it's probably just as well, since I was failing to be very interesting. I think I'd rather try to be interesting once or twice a week? Or something like that? We shall see.

Latest thing to catch my eye is [livejournal.com profile] extreme_bigbang, for which one can write 100K+ words (yeah, no, not if you are me) or make however many vids or thus and such amount of art... or podfic 100K+ words.

On the one hand, I have an incredibly deep wish for Theowyn's pair of Harry Potter epic fics (gen, focusing on Snape & Harry, reads like canon but takes a different path) to be podficced. I even went so far as to get the author's permission for *cough* any interested party to record them.

On the other hand, it's 404K words. That's... 40 hours of podfic? Which... hahahaha oh fuck. /o\ And they're basically one story; the second picks up immediately after the first ends, and it's all one long, involved arc. So there's no point in doing just one unless you're going to do the second one, too.

It's especially daunting to think about so soon after losing 50K+ words of finished podfic in that hard drive crash; I'm still trying to get over feeling vaguely nauseated at the thought of recording again. (I know that will pass. I just don't know how quickly.)

What are you lovely people doing, creatively speaking?

Anybody pondering this 10 in 10 thing that [personal profile] astolat et al are doing? If you haven't heard of it, it's writing and posting ten somethings in ten days, without fussing over perfection, getting them beta'd, all that stuff. The idea is to get the creative juices flowing and get into the habit of writing something, anything, keeping it moving. I only wish my brain would do that, but I know better than to try.

40 hours of podfic? *boggles*

I would probably back away slowly from that one. : ) Especially as you're still getting over the loss of your other recordings.

The longest thing I've ever recorded was Peter Kropotkin's autobiography for Librivox, and that was 17 hours. And it's in two volumes, so I did it with a break in between. Also, they have a system where you upload one section at a time, and then a proof-listener listens to it, so there's a built-in system for feedback which is very nice for keeping you going.

Well, I wrote a short fic for Canadian Blowjob Day, which is tomorrow. It's ready to post except for the title. And I should be getting around to doing revision on my Big Bang (I read your beta, which was helpful, but have not started work on it yet).

I am not doing any podficcing right now. For one thing, I've had a two-week cold, and for another, I'm temporarily living with my parents and I don't know for how long. But! I was asked to contribute to a [community profile] poetree theme week, so I'm setting fragment #16 of Sappho's poetry to music and recording it. This is actually a sort of fannish engagement which predates fanfic by far for me--as a kid, I'd set the songs/poems in LotR and other books to music.

Being interesting 1-2 times a week, is still excellent blogging!

The extreme BB is too daunting for me. It would take me 2 years to write 100k, not 10 months. The 10 in 10 thing also doesn't work with the way I operate, so that is a no go. I might write everyday sometimes, but finishing and posting is more of a process for me.

But I am happily plugging away at my due South vid, and my Avengers fanmixes, and writing a ray Vecchio story, so I have enough on my plate anyway. *g*

I'm sorry you lost 50k of podfic! That really must be so saddening and frustrating.
