So I got all excited about podficcing again and then promptly borked my shoulder, which made editing in Audacity (or pretty much anything else involving mouse and/or keyboard) out of the question for a while. All righty, then! So much for plans.

I suck at moderation, so I was on almost complete computer sobriety for a while there.

Anyway, it's pretty much recovered, but I'm still being polite to it and not overdoing things that made it cranky. Reinjury bad, and all that.

In brief:

* Shoulder better! Mostly.

* Blood sugar misbehaving, climbing to 150-175 range even though my eating & meds haven't changed. Am vexed and perplexed; also concerned.

* Therefore, I've cut way back on carbs, like in the early days after diagnosis. It's helping. Remembering what hungry feels like.

* Also bought a fairly schmancy exercise bike that I kind of love already. Working up slowly -- riding twice a day -- started with five minutes at a time -- up to 18 minutes today (day 4) -- always icing knees afterward and so far they're not mad at me. Yay!

* Chafing of the seat bone region, however, may be a problem. Does anyone sell padded, anti-chafe bike pants/shorts/whatever for a size 26 woman? Why do I think that fat people are not their target market? Research required; suggestions very much welcome.

* I have missed you all! Feel free to point me to journals or posts that I should read to get caught up on important stuff in your lives. Did I mention that I'd missed you? Because I did. I really missed you.

Gah, that sucks with your shoulder. : ( Glad it's getting better, though. And I hope your blood sugar starts behaving again soon.

I have also started biking recently--yesterday I biked to work for the first time, and I am feeling it in my legs now. It took me an hour and ten minutes to get there, but that's because I didn't know the best way to go. /o\ But hopefully it won't take that long in the future, because it's not really that far to go, I guess--twelve kilometers or so. I exercise far too little these days, and I'm hoping this will help me get in shape.

I've missed you, too! ♥ I don't know that there's anything important you missed? Thankfully there's not any added drama in my life right now.

Fat cyclist here! I've found 2 main sources for plus size padded bike shorts these days: Terry (terrybicycles.com) and Aerotech (aerotechdesigns.com). Aerotech is cheaper, and has more variety of types of padding. (I'd actually been looking for less padded shorts than what Terry offers, and have been pleased with the two types I tried from Aerotech).

I actually have a collection of padded cycle shorts from Junonia, but they haven't offered them in ages. They might be available on ebay, but I haven't checked in a while.

Gah. Thank you both. I'm having the worst time finding a way to stay on the bike for more than about 10 minutes before the discomfort starts to bother me, and trying to find a padded seat cover that actually fits my exercise bike has been near impossible.

At first glance I thought you "broke" your shoulder and went "Ack!" I'm glad you didn't, although borking is no fun, either. Welcome back to computer land!

Uuugh, stupid blood sugar! I hope you can get that wrangled asap!

Am currently on modified Paleo diet. I say modified, 'cause I eat a lot of dairy. Mark Sisson of the delicious musculature and the "Mark's Daily Apple" site feels this is fine if your body likes dairy okay, and you go whole milk, real butter, and remember to eat lots of veggies. I don't do low fat, so there we are. Anyway, I haven't lost a bunch of weight on the diet, but I did quit gaining, which alone is cause for celebration. :)

Am trying to think of where I'd put an exercise bike in my wee apartment, 'cause I like your idea, thar.
