Okay, I need a bit of guidance here.

The second season of Broadchurch has just started.

I have seen all of the first season of Gracepoint (the US version) but I have not seen the first season of Broadchurch.

Can I dive right into Broadchurch season 2? Or should I watch season 1 first? Is S1 so good I should watch it just because it's awesome? Or do I need to watch it just to avoid confusion about who's who? Or don't bother and just start with S2?

Fever-brain has difficulty with complex decisions. Or possibly any decisions. (Also: I'm tired of being sick.)

The first seasons are really, really close to the same. So much so that I think it would be too boring to watch them so close together. But the first season of Gracepoint tacked on an extra twist to the solution to the mystery; the thing where Miller knows who actually killed Danny but Carver is just beginning to suspect didn't happen in Broadchurch. So the second seasons are going to have to go in different directions.

I just found out that Gracepoint is officially not coming back, so that thread will just have to dangle eternally. *g*

Thanks. :-)

My $.02 only, but I'd watch S1; it is AWESOME, and, I hear, way better than Gracepoint was.

Thank you; that is actually very helpful. Plot is almost never as important to me as the characters and the casting/acting. For the most part, those were mostly so-so in Gracepoint. If Broadchurch rocked it -- and especially if the visual aesthetic is rewarding enough -- I wouldn't mind taking the time to watch S1. Much appreciated!

Yay! S1 is just stunning - probably slightly less so if you've seen Gracepoint, but still, I spent a day watching S1 of Broadchurch and had that sort of amazed, floaty feeling. It was just so impressive. Hope you enjoy!
