I watched the 12 Monkeys pilot, having been tempted by the extended preview that was released a short while ago. The teaser looked promising, but I thought the episode itself was really disappointing. There was way too much stupid.
Okay, it's a pilot, I can forgive a bit of stupid, but when I'm counting idiocies off on my fingers as the episode progresses, there's a real problem.
There's just no excuse for the bone-headed certainty that killing this one dude would solve everything and *poof* the world right when they had nothing but a name to go on, and even that wasn't correct.
And did whatshername, Cassie, even mention that guy Oliver to Cole? He certainly didn't say anything when he got back to 2043 and had his debriefing.
Those were just the most egregious brainfails.
I don't know. Is it worth going back for more? What do you think?

Must say, I'm underwhelmed so far.

Maybe I'd be better off watching it and stopping there.

Considering that I can't think of many movies-rebooted-as-TV-shows (that were good/watchable) off the top of my head, I'd advise to give it one more episode before writing it off.
TBH, I'm confused as to why would anyone want a TV show based of this movie. After al, I figure TPTB will have to detour from the canon from the get go because the movie is pretty much a self-contained canon. #leasthelpfulcommentever /o\

Yeah, I'm used to pilots not being very good, and giving a show time to find its stride. But counting off the Stupids on my fingers and having to use two hands was not promising.
I think I'll give them one more shot. But probably not more than that.

But, having watched the entire pilot, I won't be watching the rest. I can't tell if the show is diverging from the ideas in the movie because of differing plot, or because the tv show is stupid. I suspect it's the latter.
I didn't find the characters at all interesting or compelling, and within the first episode they've already changed Cole from a really broken, really interesting person to some kind of super brainiac with magical brain powers or whatever. And that would be the start of a really long rant.
I thought it was interesting that they changed the main character's name from Katheryn to Cassandra - which immediately brought to mind the mythological Cassandra, who could had the gift of prophecy, but the curse of never being believed. Which fit the character perfectly (saw a man disappear, no one believes her, talks about the coming plague) but the didn't do anything with it.
