I didn't know that, either. It's odd that it would swim to shore and then fly away instead of flying there in the first place. I'll add it to the list of strange facts I had no clue about. Thanks.

It seems so counter-intuitive, doesn't it? I've poked around a bit since seeing this, and apparently it's not at all unusual for bald eagles to swim, but nearly all of the website reports describe an eagle catching a fish too heavy to fly away with and swimming with it to shore instead. Which makes sense, when you think about it. But this eagle... just out for a swim, apparently. Purely recreational. Who knew?
