I loved the Black Stallion books. And the Heinlein juvies. How about Encyclopedia Brown? Or the Great Brain? *sigh*

Oh, Beverly Cleary's "The Mouse and the Motorcycle." Or, Mary Norton's "The Borrowers," or John Christopher's "Tripod" books. Those were scary, and pretty much my introduction to sci-fi, in book form. I mean, I'd seen the old rubber-suit alien movies from the '50's, but the Tripods? Not the same at all.

Man, y'all have got me wanting to scoot down to the bookshop and raid the kids' section, see what's new. :)

See, you've got some there that I missed. Huh.

But yeah. Now I want to go read all my favorites from, oh, maybe ages 10-14 all over again. <3

You never forget, do you, what it was like to live in those books, sink your heart and mind and soul into them.

I guess that's why we grew up to be fangirls. :-)
